After the great success of the Athens Equestrian Festival 2021, the Olympic Equestrian Center in Markopoulo will in the same year host another very important international equestrian event, the Balkan Championships 2022 in two equestrian disciplines, Jumping and Dressage.
The Balkan Championships, after five years, return to Greece and will be held for the third time at the Olympic Equestrian Center in Markopoulo. The Balkan Jumping Championships will be held on the Olympic Grass Arena from 16 to 19 September, while the Balkan Dressage Championship will take place from 17th to 19th of September on the sand arena.
The Balkan countries of Bulgaria, Turkey, Romania, Serbia, Croatia and of course Greece are expected to participate with about 180 riders and horses.
In Jumping, athletes with their horses will claim the gold medals in the individual and team competitions of the classes Children, Juniors, Young Riders, Amazons and Seniors, and in Dressage the medals of the classes Children, Juniors, Young Riders and Seniors.
The competitions are conducted according to the approved Health Protocols of the two sports, while spectators are allowed to enter up to 60% of the capacity of the two stadiums, the dressage sand arena, and the jumping grass arena. Spectators over 15 years of age must have a valid vaccination or disease certificate. Spectators aged 12-15 should submit a negative 48-hour PCR test or 24-hour Rapid test and spectators under 12 should submit a negative Self-test on the same day.
